Knitting and fiber arts have always been a central part of the Russian way of life. So much so that the goddess of ancient Slavs,Mokosh, was, in fact, a spinner woman. As a result, to this day, many Russian rituals and festivals are associated with yarn, weaving, and spinning. Traditional folk dress exhibiting fine artisanal knitting is still created by hand-worn for festivals.

In the case of Equal Hands, these techniques, and this openness to free form design have been uniquely translated to accessories.  We work with a number of independent women in Russia to bring you these exquisite creations - researching sustainable materials, modern hardware upgrades, and ancestral techniques to create one-of-a-kind pieces.
