All raw materials are carefully selected. AWAI works with fibers that are produced with a low impact on the environment. Our goal is to produce high-quality accessories with a timeless design that is made to last. That is why each hat has two or three interchangeable pieces that allow versatility. The fibers we use are all naturally dyed based on plants, flowers, and minerals from the Andean areas.
We work with producers respecting their manual production patterns, preserving their traditions, and collaborating to improve their quality of life, which amicably addresses the cultural manifestations that make up the Andean aesthetic universe, such as weaving and goldsmithing through its products, with an ecological and social awareness through the use of materials natural which are worked and transformed with ancestral techniques, as well as fair trade relationships with its collaborating artisans. The mainline of AWAI is hats, a fundamental accessory in the clothing of the people of the Andes.
Our collaborators are from different communities and areas of Cusco, such as the local districts of Ocongate, Pisaq, Paucartambo, Chinchero, and Pomacanchi. We also work with producers in Lima, Arequipa, and Ayacucho; each one with a different style of production, composition of colors and figures that represent its own cultural legacy.

Since the materials we use to develop them are natural, they can have a variety of characteristics that are intrinsic to the material. They are made with indigenous techniques that evoke the Andean worldview. The yarn process of twisting the wool that is carried out several times to achieve the required resistance. The process is traditional and it's natural inputs. The Goldsmith is a precious metal forging work. It is done by hand and following traditional techniques. The workshop is located in the center of the city of Cusco. Here is where each of the pieces of jewlery that form part of the complementary accessories for our hats are designed on paper and then produced by fire.
